The red-throated, blue-tailed skink is indigenous to the ranch surroundings and was a favorite with the McEvoy grandchildren. The illustration on our label serves as a symbol of the ranch’s commitment to ecologically sustainable agriculture.

It is with the same care and commitment we bring to our growing, harvesting, and milling practices that we approach the bottling and labeling of our product. Our distinctly-shaped square bottle was hand-picked from an Italian maker by Nan McEvoy for its classic beauty and design. To ensure absolute freshness, our olive oil is bottled to order from our storage tanks using an automatic filler, the bottles are then made air-tight with a cork and secured with twine and a red wax seal.

With such a beautiful bottle, why the addition of a box?

Actually, olive oil deteriorates with exposure to heat, light and oxygen. In order to protect our oil we package the clear glass bottle in a box and recommend storing it in a cool, dark place - out of the way of windows and stovetops. Our ½ and full gallon bottles are made of dark brown glass, protecting them from light and making a box unnecessary, though storing any oil in a cool, dark place is always recommended.

You may notice a seal from the California Olive Oil Council on our bottles. This is to certify that our oil qualifies as extra virgin under their rigorous standards.
