This Rhone-style wine is a blend of 53% Viognier, 29% Roussanne, and 18% Marsanne. The Viognier lends a firm acidity and a delicious note of honeysuckle while the Roussanne and Marsanne give more body.

The nose is full of stone fruit, especially apricot and green almond. The crisp mouthfeel kept this wine light with a touch of good bitterness found in many Rhône wines.

As the flavors expanded, apricot really shone through along with pear, almond, and wet rocks. The 2017 vintage juice was racked to a combination of stainless steel barrels and a concrete egg, where it fermented with native yeasts. It aged on the fermentation lees until February of 2018, when it was racked, blended, and bottled with no fining. The finish had a touch of acid fizz, minerality, and viscosity that are compelling and make you want another glass. We recommend serving lightly chilled for optimum flavor.

The Bonfiglio Vineyard is located on the banks of the Russian River as it winds from Ukiah Valley down towards the town of Hopland. It is surrounded by several species of oak, madrone, and elderberry. On the riverbanks is a large stand of bear grass that continues to be harvested today by local Native Americans as prized material for basket weaving. The label features an artistic intrepretation of the bear grass and the basket weaving. The vineyard is farmed organically and typically sees diurnal temperature swings of 50 degrees. This extreme fluctuation allows the grapes to fully ripen while still maintaining natural acidity and freshness.
