Bold. Red. Grand.

Discovering the nuances and unique potential of our ranch terroir has long been one of the joys of tending the land, and to our good fortune, the rolling hills of our Marin County ranch have proved just as welcoming to grapes as they are to olives.OUR WINE As we unveil each of our inaugural releases, we're excited to share new elements of the McEvoy Ranch story, that we believe are just as noteworthy as our oil. Brooks Our estate-produced, organically grown 2010 "Red Piano" Proprietary Blendis a harmonious composition of Syrah, Montepulciano, Grenache, Mourvedre, Alicante Bouschet and Refosco, a rarity in Northern California. This vintage is vibrant, sophisticated and approachable; it's a reflection our spirit of independence and what is uniquely McEvoy Ranch. "There is really no other proprietary blend quite like this in California," says Winemaker Margaret Koski-Kent. "The fact that it is based on Syrah, and also contains the Italian varieties, Montepulciano and Refosco, plus the Mediterranean varieties, Grenache and Mourvedre, many of which are interplanted with our olive trees, makes it truly unique." In keeping with our Tuscan heritage and commitment to sustainability, our grapes were interplanted within our orchards to protect the fruit from the elements and maximize use of the land. To the best of our knowledge, this traditional Italian method of interplanting grapes and olives isn't used anywhere else in the United States. rollinghills Unlike the growing regions immediately to the northeast in Sonoma and Napa counties, the Marin hills enjoy a more temperate climate with more sunshine and variable fog, which contribute to the distinct profile of its wines. wine_11_grape_potion Our 2010 vintage was made using open-top Oak tonneau barrels and basket press, resulting in a wine that is savory and structured on the palate, with bright fruit flavors and hues of deep ruby and purple. This youthful wine is a vibrant, yet sophisticated mix of Bing cherry, blackberry, cracked pepper, black tea, and exotic curry spices, with additional notes of soy and mocha. Enjoy our 2010 "Red Piano" now and over the next 5 to 8 years. Beginning in early August, our 2010 Red Piano will be available for tasting on Tuesday and Fridays from 4pm until 6pm in our San Francisco Ferry Building shop.
