Over the weekend, we joined Bay area farmers, artisans and street food vendors in an inspiring weekend celebration of delicious, affordable, local food at the Eat Real Festival in Oakland's Jack London Square.
Imagine: Hand-crafted, local beer, artisan gelato, sorbet and popsicles at every turn and succulent, slow-roasted pork in all its glorious incarnations including Korean bbq, Mexican carnitas, Italian porchetta and southern bbq ribs.
And those were just the highlights...
There were also mini lobster rolls, crunchy pickles, pupusas, flaky Turkish pastries filled with feta and parsley, crispy olive oil-chickpea pancakes with rosemary called farinata and an entire indoor marketplace full of local farmers selling fresh veggies, fruits and preserves.
Despite the sweltering heat, it was certainly good eats, a good cause and good times.
