How To Irrigate With Rainwater

This entry was posted on August 17, 2018 by John Calmeyer.

Here in California, surrounded by seemingly endless wildfires, it seems like it might never rain again. But as farmers, hope springs eternal as we keep a weather eye going into our harvest season. Here at McEvoy Ranch, all of our irrigation water comes from the skies, captured in our systems of irrigation ponds to be distributed to our orchards and vineyards. Home gardens and small farms can use a tremendous amount of water, so we enjoyed this how-to article by Brian Barth in Modern Farmer on capturing rainwater for irrigation purposes. Check your local ordinances to make sure it's legal. via Modern Farmer
