Introducing: Rosebud

IMG_2885There's always a reason to celebrate, and "Rosebud," our 2012 Rosé of Pinot noir, is a refreshing reminder to kick up your heels with abandon. Evoking true joie de vivre from wine to barrel, Rosebud was crafted with intention, in memory of a beloved redheaded cowgirl. For this vintage, we chose organically-grown grapes from our Azaya vineyard. Only twelve miles from the Pacific Ocean, the site experiences more consistent fog and a cooler, more prolonged growing season compared to the vineyards at McEvoy Ranch. azayaThe Pinot noir used in our 2012 rosé was fermented in stainless steel and gently extracted by direct press, preserving the integrity and delicate flavors of the fruit. "Our intention with the Rosebud was to explore another dimension of the Pinot noir variety," says Winemaker Margaret Koski-Kent. "We wanted to make a pressed version of the grape that is a joy to drink." Peach in hue, Rosebud exhibits an elegant mix of acacia flower, citrus, honeysuckle, wild jasmine and white peach aromas. The wine showcases flavors of passion fruit, Ruby Red grapefruit and green apple with additional notes of cranberry, rhubarb, and green tea. Tart and lively on the palate, this vintage is a natural pair for local oysters and intended to be enjoyed now and shared with friends. Beginning in early August, our 2012 Rosebud will be available for tasting on Tuesday and Fridays from 4pm until 6pm in our San Francisco Ferry Building shop.
