Ever since Thanksgiving, our organic produce coordinator-extraordinaire, Ms. Willow Ringer, has been building and delivering fresh wreaths to our Ferry Building shop. She makes them with organic greenery, dried fruits and various colorful, festive bits she finds at the ranch. The good news (for you) is that they're absolutely gorgeous. The better news (for me) is that they're wildly popular and she needs help. (Wreath-making is a skill I've always wanted to learn, so I jumped at the opportunity.)
On Monday I got up bright and early, layered on my long underwear, tucked hand warmers in my pockets and drove up to the ranch to be Willow's wreath elf for this week. That's right, I spent a day of work gathering pretty purple-flowered sprigs of rosemary, weaving together bundles of organic pine and acacia and lovingly stringing dried citrus, buckeye and bay leaves into a long strand of harvest colors and textures to the sound of our babydoll sheep grazing nearby in the orchards.
Of course my fingertips didlosing circulation and there was that blistery afternoon storm when big balls of hail pegged us in the head, but despite all that, it was a delightful day at the ranch that I'd do all over again if I could. (Hint, hint, Willow...)
I've uploaded a full album of shots from the day onto our Facebook fan page, along with some examples of the wreaths we're selling in the Ferry Building shop. Willow is taking pre-orders through the holidays, so if you haven't greened your door or holiday table, there's still time.
Visit us in our Ferry Building shop to fill out an order form, submit it by Sunday evening and pick up your organic holiday wreath, garland or swag on Wednesday of that week.
