Farm Worker

We have an opening for a full-time position as a Farm Worker on the McEvoy Ranch in Petaluma, California. The staff members of the Farm Worker team are responsible for the care and maintenance of the vineyards, olive orchard, general landscaping, and the duties change with the seasons.

McEvoy Ranch is a producer and marketer of fine Extra Virgin Olive Oil, specialty foods, wine, merchandise, and events. Our vineyards and orchards produce our award-winning wines and olive oils.

Responsibilities

  • A list of general daily activities includes activities for crop care from new plantings, replanting, pruning, weeding and harvest.
  • Our staff work primarily with hand tools and some power tools for pruning.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 1-4 years of similar experience working in a vineyard and/or orchard.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Ability to bring energy to the performance of a task
  • Ability to react with patience and level-headedness in rough terrain
  • Able to read & write some English or Spanish.
  • Ability to follow instructions

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged physical activity required including standing, sitting, climbing, squatting, kneeling, bending, mixing, loading, reaching, lifting and walking on uneven ground for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Works outdoors year-round

Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialist

The family-owned 550-acre sprawling ranch has less than 15% planted to olives and grapes to maintain a healthy balance with our natural surroundings where we produce award-winning certified organic extra virgin olive oil, from orchard to bottle. We also produce ODE beauty products, craft culinary food products, and McEvoy wines - all sold in our retail stores at the Ranch and San Francisco Ferry Building, as well as specialty food stores.

Accounts Payable Responsibilities

  • Obtain payment authorization for payables. Accurately enter expense activity into the QuickBooks business system, and process weekly check run.
  • Monitor and communicate cash requirements for A/P
  • Communicate with vendors as necessary to process 1099s and related state filings.

Accounts Receivable Responsibilities

  • Apply payments, prepare bank deposits, and monitor accounts receivable balances. Contact customers and initiate collection activity as required.
  • Process e-commerce and retail store activity by downloading into QuickBooks
  • Other duties include maintaining organized filing system for A/P, A/R, and other accounting related information, and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Total of five years general accounting experience to include AP and AR; some general ledger and payroll experience preferred.
  • Adept with QuickBooks software; Enterprise version preferred.
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Word and Excel, including simple formulas. Pivot tables a plus
  • High degree of integrity and confidentiality
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong verbal, written and analytical skills with sound decision-making ability

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Office based work
  • Must be able to sit and perform keyboarding for prolonged amount of time
  • May lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.

Assistant Retail Sales Manager – Customer Experience

The Ferry Building is a very special retail environment – vibrant, engaging, ever changing with visitors from all over the Bay Area and the world. Join our Management Team in San Francisco and focus on developing our customer experience. This position will be responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service while achieving sales goals. Working with our Director of Retail Sales and the Assistant Manager for Employee Relations, the Customer Experience Assistant Manager will create and implement plans to maximize sales through merchandising, customer service and employee selection and training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service and train staff in sales techniques, having a comprehensive knowledge of the product line, customer education techniques, and all aspects of the company brand.
  • In conjunction with our Director of Retail Sales, maintain and monitor visual merchandising standards and all aspects of shop aesthetic in order to develop brand identity and recognition
  • In conjunction with Assistant Retail Store Manager-Employee Relations, supervise and train employees on all POS functions including cash and credit card processing, opening and closing procedures, pricing functions and sku management, and administrative duties consistent with Company policies.
  • Participate with the recruiting team to select the best employees.
  • Extensive time on the floor in sales and customer engagement
  • Engage the Customers in demonstrating products, including wine, food and beauty products.
  • Work with the Inventory & Fulfillment Manager to ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2-4 years of supervisory experience in a prestige-style retail store, preferably in the beauty products, food or wine arena.
  • Experience with POS software.
  • Artistic and aesthetic vision used in collaboration with others to maintain Store to high standards
  • Excellent product presentation skills to expertly articulate product features and benefits, including our McEvoy back story
  • Able to conduct business with a high degree of professionalism both in demeanor and conduct
  • Friendly, outgoing, passionate about our products
  • Exceptional customer services skills and sales aptitude

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach outward, reach above shoulder, bend, and use hands and fingers frequently
  • Must be able to stand frequently and for extended periods of time (up to 5 hours at a time)
