The Bonfiglio Vineyard is located on the banks of the Russian River, surrounded by several species of oak, madrone, elderberry, and other native plants. On the riverbanks is a large stand of bear grass that continues to be harvested today by local Native Americans as prized material for basket weaving. Our label illustration honors this tradition. The vineyard has been farmed organically for more than a decade.
This Rhône-style wine is a blend of Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne. The Viognier lends a firm acidity and note of honeysuckle while the Marsanne and Roussanne give more body. The interplay of acidity, stone fruit, and floral aromatics is intriguing in this wine. The nose is full of stone fruit, green almond, and honeysuckle. The crisp mouthfeel kept this balanced as apricot really shone through along with pear, almond, and wet stone. The finish had a touch of minerality and viscosity that are compelling and make you want another glass. We recommend serving lightly chilled for optimim flavor.
