A symphony of flavors plays out in our Red Piano Syrah. The 2014 vintage was very dry with an early bud break. The mild temperatures and light rain allowed the fruit to be grown under optimal conditions with picking beginning mid-September. All of the grapes were grown on our 100% certified organic estate vineyards in the Petaluma Gap.
2014 marks the first time that Syrah is the named varietal on our Red Piano offering since more than 75% is that varietal. The color and flavor notes depict all the things we love about cool-climate Syrah.
The wine opens with floral and perfume notes with a touch of white pepper and black tea. The flavors include brandied cherries, currants, cranberry, ripe plum, and brambleberry. Multi-layered and complex, you will also find notes of graphite, leather, dried Shiitake mushrooms, and a whisper of black peppercorn. Velvety and rich, this Syrah has seen 23 months of French oak aging in Francois Fr̬res, Taransaud, and Seguin Moreau barrels.
