Maurizio Castelli, our consulting winemaker, has been working with Blake Yarger, our winemaker, for nearly a decade. While their time zones may not always be in sync, they are definitely working under the “same moon.” This energy is the impetus for our new McEvoy Ranch Saimuun wines where Blake and Maurizio seek out interesting vineyards to handcraft wines.
The first to debut is a Vermentino from Italy. Light straw gold in color, the 2015 Saimuun Vermentino is decidedly complex with a richness and fresh acidity that appeals. The aromatics include white nectarine, lemon oil, and pink grapefruit. As you sip, the flavors unfold to reveal faint almond, green guava, quince, and wet stone. The finish has white pepper spice and a viscosity that makes this acompletely refreshingwine. 800 cases.
