The 2017 Evening Standard is 90% from the Azaya vineyard and 10% from the McEvoy Ranch. Both are farmed by McEvoy and both are located in the AVA Petaluma Gap, just a few miles from each other.
2017 was a warm growing season and the Evening Standard reflects this. Ripe, forward, and generous, its charms are easily appreciated. The fruit is classically coastal Californian and very expressive, with a mix of black and red berries, and just enough of the floral and herbal notes that are typical of the Petaluma Gap to keep things in balance.
It never disappoints.
