The 2017 Evening Standard is 90% from the Azaya vineyard and 10% from the McEvoy Ranch. Both are farmed by McEvoy and both are located in the Petaluma Gap, just a few miles from each other.
2017 was a warm growing season and the Evening Standard reflects this. Ripe, forward and generous, its charms are easily appreciated. The fruit is classically coastal Californian and very expressive, with a mix of black and red berries, and just enough of the floral and herbal notes that are typical of the Petaluma Gap to keep things in balance. Plush and delicious on the palate, this is a wine of pleasure first, contemplation second.
