McEvoy Ranch Wine
There is a collaboration that occurs in winemaking. It starts in the vineyard with consideration for soil, clone, elevation, aspect, and climate. It slowly progresses from each person that touches a grapevine to harvest. In the winery, grapes are sorted by hand and then blends slowly begin to formulate in the winemaker’s mind as he constantly monitors and tastes each individual lot seeking the perfect balance. Judicious barrel aging regimes come into consideration followed by bottle aging. Each wine offering is distinct in its own way and improved upon when shared with friends and family over a meal.

  9. 2016 Bonfiglio Wine from McEvoy Ranch - White Wine from Sonoma County, CA

    2016 Bonfiglio

The Bonfiglio Vineyard is located on the banks of the Russian River as it winds from Ukiah Valley down towards the town of Hopland. It is surrounded by several species of oak, madrone, and elderberry. On the riverbanks is a large stand of bear grass that continues to be harvested today by local Native Americans as prized material for basket weaving. The label features an artistic intrepretation of the bear grass and the basket weaving. The vineyard typically sees diurnal temperature swings of 50 degrees. This extreme fluctuation allows the grapes to fully ripen while still maintaining natural acidity and freshness. This Rhone-style wine is a blend of Viognier (60%,) Marsanne (20%,) and Roussanne (20%.) The Viognier lends a firm acidity while the Roussanne and Marsanne give more body. 2013 Red Piano Blend

Like music to your ears, this estate-grown wine is an eclectic symphony of flavors. The 2013 Red Piano is a blend of Syrah (60%,) Grenache (10%,) Alicante (10%,) Montepulciano (10%,) Refosco, and a touch of Viognier for softness and aromatic complexity. With a mesmerizing garnet color, the aromatics evoke fire-roasted marshmallows, violets, and bright cherry. The flavors are typical of a cool-climate wine with ripe fig, Santa Rosa plums, blackberry, anise, and a bit of fresh rosemary. We love the elements of minerality, asphalt, and petrichor (that delicious smell of the first rain coming off of stones after a dry, warm period) that are interwoven in the dense mid-palate. The wine was barrel aged for 20 months in Francois Fr learn more »
