Tours and Workshops - McEvoy Ranch


We offer a variety of specialized workshops throughout the year. The themes range from outdoor yoga, wreath making, food & wine pairings, to creating fantastical botanical arrangements and how to care for olive trees. There's always something new and interesting so check often or subscribe to our list to hear about events and workshops as they unfold.

    Back by popular demand and expanded to allow plenty of time in the field, join olive farming expert Samantha Dorsey for a full-day workshop which will outline the special considerations for pruning productive, fruit-bearing olive trees and help you finesse your techniques.

    INDOOR PRUNING LECTURE + DISCUSSION

    Topics will include:

    • Timing
    • Proper Use of Tools
    • Different Techniques for Different Applications
    • Young Trees vs Older Trees
    • Maximizing Fruit Production

    A lunch will be provided by The Ranch Chef, Mark Rohrmeier at the McEvoy Pagoda.

    OUTDOOR DEMONSTRATION + PRACTICE

    After lunch we will gather in one of our olive orchards for further instruction, observation and practice of techniques. Please come prepared to spend time in the field – we will be on uneven surfaces and temperatures/conditions may vary. We will have a few extra pruning tools on hand, but please feel free to bring your own. Dress and footwear should be appropriate for outdoor orchard conditions.

    Following the workshop, please join us at our Ranch Shop and Tasting Room for a 3 wine flight, olive oil and nibbles. Allow time to explore our retail shop where we feature our olive oil, wines, estate products and ODE body care line. Wine club members will enjoy their discount.

    Please Note

    The weather can change quickly; jackets, sunglasses, hats and umbrellas may come in handy. Mildly rainy conditions will not cancel the tour, event or workshop. Please leave your pets at home as they are not allowed in our buildings and vehicles parked on the gravel get extremely hot in the sun.

    The speed limit is 15 mph or less once you turn off the main road, out of respect for our neighbors and the local wildlife. McEvoy Ranch is a private residence; please stay with your group during your visit.

    McEvoy Ranch is not responsible for injuries to visitors. Attendance and participation are at your own risk.

    Make your own succulent arrangement with McEvoy Ranch’s own Garden Gal, Kyli Rose! Kyli will share her expert experience in propagating, designing and caring for unique and beautiful succulent gardens.

    Start the morning with a tour of McEvoy Ranch that will include our gardens and the family’s succulent collection. Along the way, Kyli will share tips for growing and propagating succulents before we settle in to our workstations in the Ranch Greenhouse.

    Once in the Greenhouse, Kyli will examine design elements, care and maintenance and will have supplies on hand to allow you to get creative and make your own arrangement to take home.

    After the hands on portion you will be escorted back to our tasting room for a flight of wine and taste of olive oil.
