McEvoy Ranch Community Olive Milling Day

Community Milling will be offered on Sunday November 12, 2017.

Community Mill Day is one of the most exciting days of the year. Small growers from across Northern California bring their freshly-picked olives to our mill to create a true regional blend olive oil. We combine everyone’s crop and mill a seasonally unique Extra Virgin Olive Oil that is always delicious. Come with your olives and join us!

Additional Information

What will it cost?
We charge $1/pound of olives.

How does it work?
We combine everyone’s olives and mill them together to make a community olive oil. Each participant receives a commensurate amount of the final oil based upon how many pounds of olives they contributed to the blend. At McEvoy Ranch, we make to community olive oil blends: one with olives from Tuscan trees only (for example, Frantoio, Leccino, Pendolino, Maurino, and Moraiolo) and one with olives from trees from all other regions (Arbequina, Mission, Sevillano, Manzanillo, even unidentified varieties!)

Who can come?
Anyone with olives to mill. We do ask that you register so we know you are coming. It helps us plan the milling process and makes sure we brew enough coffee for everyone (this part is crucial).

When should you deliver the olives?
Delivery time is between 8:00 – 10:30am

Will all olives be included in the blend?
As long as they are in good condition, absolutely. Olives that have been damaged by frost, olive fruit fly, or other sad circumstances will not be included.

When do you get your oil?
It takes us about a full week to divvy up everyone’s oil into the proper amounts and containers.

Do you need to bring bottles for your oil?
You are welcome to bring sanitized, labeled bottles for your oil. But don’t worry if you don’t have any – we have plenty here.
