The Bee's Knees Honey Cocktail

McEvoy-Ranch-Catch-a-Buzz-Cocktail

The Bee's Knees was a Prohibition Era Cocktail made with gin, fresh lemon juice, and honey - shaken and chilled.

The term "bee's knees" followed a Depression-era fad of popularizing animal-related nonsense phrases such as "cat's pajamas" and "cat's meow". There was actually a "Flapper" dictionary full of nonsense phrases popular at the time. The current guess is that the cocktail was created to mask the harsh taste of bathtub gin. For the Catch a Buzz we have added basil and an egg white to the original cocktail. Basil for the wonderful flavor and powerful antioxidants and the egg white to make it deliciously foamy. While I am not going to sell this as a healthy breakfast drink - there is gin in there after all - the lemon juice and McEvoy Ranch Wildflower Honey are good for you too! The McEvoy Ranch Lemon Olive Oil takes it over the top with flavor. Kelly Looney of Sonoma Distilling Company, mixologist extraordinaire, created this delightful summer cocktail for us. Enjoy!
