    Location: McEvoy Ranch

Welcome to McEvoy Ranch! On this tour, we will share our family history, commitment to environmental responsibility, information about our wine program and award-winning olive oil. This two-hour experience includes a walk in the orchards and the vineyards where we will explain the horticulture of our plantings. We will then proceed through the frantoio olive mill to learn about our unique process of extracting oil. To finish, we’ll gather for an oil tasting and sensory evaluation and offer suggestions for how to best enjoy our olive oil.

Following the tour, please allow time to visit our retail shop where we feature our olive oil, wines, estate products and 80 Acres body care line. Or stay and taste our wines! A flight of three pours is available for $15 + tax per guest. Wine club members will enjoy their discount and receive up to 4 complimentary wine tastings. Click here to learn more about the club.

Our tours start promptly at the designated start time.

    Please Note

We invite children ten years or older to join us on the Ranch Tour. We'll be walking on some uneven surfaces, so comfy shoes are in order. You can also bring along a small portable chair, if you'd like. The weather in our west Marin location can be fickle—we recommend coming prepared with options! The tour won't be cancelled due to mildly rainy conditions.

We love our pets, too, but unfortunately, with the exception of service dogs, they have to stay at home. The local wildlife has been known to greet arriving guests—look out for wild turkeys, deer, foxes and jackrabbits (to name a few) from the lower gate all the way up to the Ranch. Please drive slowly (15 mph) after you turn off the main road.

The Ranch is the McEvoy family's private residence, so please stay with your group during your visit.

McEvoy Ranch is not responsible for injuries to visitors. Attendance and participation are at your own discretion.

Cancellations made up to 72 hours in advance will receive a full refund. Please contact visit@mcevoyranch.com or call 707.769.4138 if your plans change.

The dormant winter months are transforming into spring as the earth begins its process of renewal. With the McEvoy garden beginning to bloom, the colors and smells will inspire your creations within the Chinese Pavilion. Join us as we explore the many uses for garden flowers and plants, creating home medicine and cosmetics and adding unique aromatics to your food preparations. We’ll dive deep into the world of hydrosols, pure plant distillates that have a wide variety of uses in culinary, medicinal and cosmetic applications. They even work with mood and emotions, calming the mind and soothing fatigue.

Alice Duvernell, of Biophilia Botanicals, will share her passion and wealth of knowledge of plants and aromatherapy in this all-levels workshop. Students will begin by touring the exclusive Ranch gardens for a first-hand look at the herbs and flowers grown on property and featured in the class. After sampling and learning about the qualities of several hydrosols and other culinary distillates, students will learn to craft their own hydrosols from scratch using plants from the garden and readily accessible kitchen tools. This will include step-by-step information on how and when to pick plants, the manufacturing and sterilization process, PH levels, blending and bonus recipes. At the conclusion, we invite you to share a glass of McEvoy wine and some plant-based ranch nibbles in our wine tasting room.

    Participants will take home:

    - a 4 oz. bottle of freshly made hydrosol
    - a custom made, hydrosol-based, facial mask
    - a hand-out detailing the process and recipes

This course will cover season-by-season cultural practices for growers to cultivate healthy olive trees that consistently produce high-quality oil. In addition, we will present an introduction to tasting olive oil for producers by examining the positive and negative flavor characteristics in the context of grove management and milling decisions.

The morning’s indoor lecture topics will include:

    • Watering
    • Fertilizing

We will be outside moving about on uneven surfaces. Layers and comfortable shoes are recommended. Bring your questions and engage in the discussion!

Our day will conclude at McEvoy Ranch’s beautiful tasting room and patio. Join us for a complimentary glass of wine and special treat in the tasting room at the conclusion of the workshop, also leaving time to enjoy our charming retail shop.
